NFL Analyst Severely Disrespects Drake Maye In 2026 Quarterback Rankings originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Many NFL analysts are high on Drake Maye coming off his stellar sophomore season for the New England Patriots, but not Jason McIntyre.
"The Herd" co-host was shockingly disrespectful to Maye in his updated 2026 NFL quarterback tiers, which he shared on the show on Wednesday.
McIntyre had the 2025 NFL MVP runner-up in Tier 3, outside his top 10 quarterbacks. Maye was ranked below Brock Purdy, Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert, among others, even though he just beat Herbert in a playoff game and led the Patriots to the Super Bowl a few months ago.

"Drake Maye was a tough one. I didn't want to put him on. I was like one year, guys, c'mon. He did nothing in his first year. But he gets a good coach, Josh McDaniels calling plays. Things went well for Drake Maye," McIntyre said.
Leaving Maye out of his top three tiers, and thus outside the top 15, would have been insane. Maye was arguably the best quarterback in the NFL last year and probably deserved to win MVP over Matthew Stafford, leading the league in completion rate, yards per attempt and passer rating despite having relatively mediocre weapons around him.
Sure, it was only one year, but several quarterbacks above him have never had a year like that. While his postseason performance was disappointing, he's only 23 and could be even better this year.
McIntyre's co-host, Colin Cowherd, had Maye eighth in his QB rankings two weeks ago, which is far more reasonable. Apparently he needs to talk some sense into McIntyre.
