I would also be fine with Kubiak. I am not sure if he could rival Shanahan and McVay, but at least he could get the most out of the offense, I think. Optimize Harrison, for example.
My biggest worry is his staff. Usually, assistant coaches come from the head coach’s own connections as with Wilks, Arians and Gannon, for example. Kingsbury is a bit different, since he came from the college ranks. I think the Cardinals have tried to go the route with young, talented coordinators without success, so I would like someone with more experience now.
It’s just that when I look at Kubiak’s career, I don’t see a lot of natural options. Joe Woods has been a DC many places, and has actually crossed paths with Kubiak with multiple teams. Some story with George Edwards and Jerry Gray, but any of those excites anyone? He worked with Steve Wilks in San Francisco. Anyone interested?
I don’t know. Options like Mike LaFleur, Robert Saleh, Anthony Weaver and others have much more obvious coordinator-candidates. That is not to say that Kubiak couldn’t be paired with someone he does not have a relationship with, but it is just not the norm.
