I feel like we’re interviewing way too many people…maybe I’m just jaded by how long the process took last time. We didn’t hire JG til Feb 14th.

I just want them to interview like the top 3 guys, get aggressive and be one of the first to hire.

We couldn’t hire JG until the Super Bowl was over, he was the guy they wanted so they had no choice but wait…same reason Steichen was hired by the Colts the same day. That’s a weird thing to be caught up on.

Let’s say Thomas Brown is the guy they are targeting and the Patriots are in the Super Bowl, it’ll be the same thing.

I think it’s more that the more time goes by, the less great candidates are available.

And I’m not sure JG was their guy. Demeco Ryans is probably who they really wanted but he cancelled his interview.

And we obviously wanted Sean Payton but he rejected us.

They can’t hire a guy in the playoffs until their team is eliminated so it is kind of out of the teams control. I don’t really care when they announce their hire, I just want it to be the right guy this time. They obviously wanted Gannon as it was proven they spoke to him before they were allowed to, it why we were forced to give the Eagles a pick.

Of course you want the guy coming off back to back losing seasons and is 0-2 in the playoffs. Oh and an offensive mind whose QB regressed.
Yes. He at least has HC experience and his QB was a concussion machine.

Yeah I just believe the longer it drags out the less likely they are to get “their” guy.

And sure they liked JG, they did hire him. But why didn’t they interview him during Philly’s bye week in the playoffs?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the tampering was due to desperation because again it was so late in the game.

I’m not banking on getting lucky again like we did with BA when nobody else wanted him…

Very well could be true. Lots of other openings this cycle and that tends to not bode well for MB to get a top tier HC instead will probably settle for JGv2

We didn't give the Eagles a pick but had to exchange picks and that cost us 20 slots or so IIRC.

It’s annoying we have to compete with yet another organization in the Dolphins. There are so many openings! When we hired Gannon we were only competing against 4 other teams, not 7!
On top of that 1 or 2 playoff teams will surely fire their coaches as well

We have to. It’s a hard sell to come to this circus.

Or more.

Just as a note, I read up on the hiring rules. Teams cannot request interviews with coaches that are still in the playoffs. That means, for example, that no team has officially requested interviews with Robert Saleh and Jeff Hafley, but that they plan to do it. That is also why it has not been reported that anyone has requested interviews with any of the Rams assistants, even though they supposedly will be in high demand, or any other. I expect them to interview at least Mike LaFleur, Jesse Minter and Joe Brady.

I could see a combination of Mike LaFleur (HC) and Raheem Morris (DC) back together, but that is probably a little beside the point.

I am very surprised that they (at least reportedly) have not at least asked Stefanski for an interview. I am not sure I want the guy, but it is obvious that Bidwill is going for a guy with head coach experience, so I guess it would make sense to ask a two-time coach of the year in the recent past.

Hafley has been good at every stop. He was at OSU and did a great job.

He had BC competitive. He's an excellent candidate. I like Weaver but Hafley would be a great hire.

I don't think this is competitive or what we are needing - Hafley at Boston College as HC
Look at the conference record - wow.

Maybe that's an indication that they think that The Petzing, and his offense, was a big part of the problem.
They both run the Cleveland offense right?

If we want a defensive HC -the only choice IMO is Brian Flores.

If we want offensive - my two top choices are McDaniel and Stefanski.

Of course Harbaugh but he doesn't fit into OC or DC

Not a fair comparison IMO.

Stefanski - seasoned NFL HC with 2 coach of the year awards.

Petzing - was never an OC and never called plays before being hired by the Cardinals.

True.
But they do run the same system right?
My point is simply that if Mike feels that offensive system is not good for the team then it makes no sense to hire another coach that runs that system.

It's not like they would hire Stef, then force him to use a different offense.

Jeff Rogers is butt.

Do you happen to see the season-end weighted DVOA? I imagine we’re much more to the Southwest, but could also get a lot of help from opponents adjustments.
