Listening to Warner this morning on 98.7 he hinted we should be looking somebody that has been in the position.
I tend to agree. If you’ve never done the job you can’t be as aware of what it takes to be a HC. Obviously first time head coaches have succeeded.
However, in our situation I think we’ve had enough of apprenticeships.

I would take Mike McDaniel as HC.
Of course you want the guy coming off back to back losing seasons and is 0-2 in the playoffs. Oh and an offensive mind whose QB regressed.

McDaniel is very interesting.

Great offensive mind that is right up there with McVay and Shanahan IMO (as play callers/schemers).

I honestly don't know about him as a leader of men.

I do know his pressers would be way more interesting (good and bad) than Gannon's.

How most of the fanbase here views Kyler is how the Miami fanbase views Tua. Grier & Tua’s big limitations both got Flores & McDaniel fired more than their own-doing.
I know he’s supposed to be in an offensive guru and you’re definitely a better football mind than me. I guess I could get on board, but I do question that the guy was there and in the thick of it when they decided to extend TUA . you have to think he gave his rubber stamp and thought it was a good idea at the time. Especially to get the owner to give TUA that kind of contract with his health issues. Maybe he had no saying it I don’t know, but that definitely makes me question his quarterback prowess? But maybe I’m overthinking it.

I'd be on board with McDaniel because I find him fun to watch at press conferences, at the very least.

Seriously though, I like him a lot but worry he was starting to look a little broken there at the end, like his joy for coaching had burnt out. Still, I find him much more intriguing than like 80% of our scheduled coaching interviews.
