The New York Giants opened their 2026 rookie minicamp on Friday, and one of the first steps for the NFL draftees is to have a uniform number assigned to them.

Five of the seven players drafted were given unassigned jersey numbers, while two were given numbers that are already in use.

The Giants' two first-round picks, linebacker Arvell Reese and offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa, were assigned Nos. 52 and 65, respectively, both of which were open.

Second-round pick, cornerback Colton Hood, and wide receiver Malachi Fields both were assigned jersey numbers that are in use. Hood was given No. 12, which belongs to backup quarterback Brandon Allen, while Fields was given No. 0, which All-Pro linebacker Brian Burns is currently wearing.

The Giants' three sixth-round picks all landed open numbers. Defensive tackle Bobby Jamison-Travis was given Dexter Lawrence's old number (97) while linebacker Jack Kelly was assigned No. 51 and offensive tackle J.C. Davis was given No. 74.

These number assignments are temporary, mind you. When the team rounds out its final roster in September, there are usually a slew of players who opt to switch.
