"Stadium to be Most Technologically Advanced in the NFL

The Arizona Cardinals and Insight North America have entered into a partnership that will make the new Cardinals Stadium the most technologically advanced in the NFL.

The announced partnership names Tempe-based Insight as the exclusive Information Technology provider. Insight will provide a fully integrated approach to voice, data and video with state-of-the-art cabling, networking, wireless and computing technology.

The company will also be implementing a wireless infrastructure into the stadium giving it the capability to support virtually every form of wireless communication now on the horizon. This will facilitate uninterrupted cell phone usage and wireless Internet access within the stadium, so patrons with Wi-Fi-enabled laptops and PDAs will be able to surf the Internet

I don't think I am going to fit in at this new stadium. The first time someone tells me to be quiet because they can't hear their cell phone, or sit down because they can't type on their lap top and watch the game with me in the way, I will be in trouble.

Oh well. I will be there anyway!

Nice. You guys realize they are basically installing Wireless Access Points, probably 802.11b and 802.11g capable.

Some posts earlier were saying there will be laptops in every seat!! Wrong. You can bring your own laptop to the game, or similar handheld device, Sony PSP, etc. and get online.

Is the access at every seat? So like I could be sitting next to a guy typing away on his laptop right next to me?

They'll throw me out. I can already imagine myself being tossed out of there before kick off of the first home game.

I think they'll be some things we miss about SDS. Not many but some.

If you bring a laptop to a football game, then you deserve whatever happens to it.

Access in every seat. It's a wireless access point -- like your cell phone. No cables required. Same thing they have in some Starbucks, the airport, etc. Without getting too technical, a radio wave wireless connection so you can pretty much be anywhere (even the bathroom) as long as you're within the receiption spread.

Ever seen one of those blue Linksys wireless access points for home use? Same thing, but these will be more industrial strength.

Also, there's lots of devices that can operate through wireless besides laptops. Cell phones, PDAs, and other electronics devices like the Sony PSP gaming system.

I would also imagine it will be more for buisness men in luxury suites as well.

I'm bringing my notebook computer to the games so I can post instant play by play on ASFN next season.

No - the naming rights are not sold yet. It's just one of the business partnerships that the Cards do.
