I can come forward with some of the inside juice now that the hire has been made official:

Dave Pasch accepted terms w/ ESPN the day the news leaked about him possibly doing more work with the national network. Pasch recommended one person for the job to the Bidwills: A well-known national ESPN personality with multi-sport PxP experience who really wanted it (I wont say who out of respect and to protect their reputation). Pasch was on the hiring committee for a new announcer, so on the surface, he had major sway. Their commanding salary was pretty modest, too. Far lower than I would have expected. It was a two person race between the ESPN personality and the Jags guy for weeks. But, what do the Bidwills do better than anyone? Be cheap and hire someone with less pizzazz .

The ESPN personality would have done wonders for the team's PR instead of this no name from the freaking Jags.

So Marc Kestecher wanted the gig? I like his voice, but I just listened to the Jags guy highlights and he's got a great voice, too.

Must be a tv person, then...or Kevin Harlan?????? That would have been a coup...and could have possibly brought Warner into the fold to replace Wolf.

Harlan is CBS and Westwood 1. He's also 66. But Harlan is my favorite active PxP voice.

After 14 years with the Jaguars as senior reporter, I’m off to Phoenix to become the Voice of the Arizona Cardinals!!!

My final Jags show is Thursday, and final day with #Jaguars is Friday!

my cynical take: a well known ESPN guy would have options if he found the Cards environment / working for Mike B to be bad

this is a step up for JP and as a result will have a far higher tolerance for BS

Pasch is a well-known ESPN guy who did just fine for 24 years

JP sounds like a good guy and should do well, but when you have an ESPN personality begging for the gig who can do wonders for PR for a team with awful PR, and the sticking point is maybe a few thousand dollars a year, then it reinforces the "Bidwills are cheap" moniker.

J.P. Shadrick was named the Cardinals’ new radio play-by-play announcer.

He called NFL games for Westwood One Sports since 2022 and spent the last 14 years as the Jaguars’ senior reporter, hosted the last six Jaguars head coaches’ weekly radio shows and served as a pregame and postgame radio host on gameday.

Former Cardinals center A.Q. Shipley will return as the color analyst and in another move, team reporter Dani Surek will join the group as sideline reporter.

I get it. I was trying to lookup current ESPN radio people with multiple sports pxp ..the two I mentioned earlier were the only ones I could find. So I figured it must be a TV person or WW1, which I've heard broadcast on ESPN before.

I can't really think of anyone else at ESPN who would move the needle for me.
