The Miami Dolphins have brought in several free agents this offseason to fill many of their holes up and down their roster for the 2026 season.
Among those newcomers to South Florida is wide receiver Jalen Tolbert, who joined the Dolphins after spending his first four seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys.
According to Over the Cap, Miami gave Tolbert a one-year deal worth $1.40 million. The contract includes a $1.22 million ($1.08 million is guaranteed) and a $187,500 signing bonus. His cap hit for 2026 is $1.26 million.
The Dolphins won't save any money by cutting Tolbert before the start of the regular season and would take on a dead cap penalty of $1.26 million. So, between the lack of a financial benefit of releasing him and the state of the team's wide receiver room, Tolbert is a lock to make the roster out of camp.
At this point in the offseason, it's possible that Tolbert is the top wide receiver on Miami's depth chart, and it could remain that way unless the Dolphins invest in the position early in the 2026 NFL draft.
