New AFC contender emerges as potential suitor for A.J. Brown in trade originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New England Patriots could have some competition when it comes to their well-publicized plan to try to trade for Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown this offseason.
Everyone and their mother knows that the Patriots are interested in trading for Brown, but another AFC contender has emerged as a potential suitor for the star pass-catcher.
Jacksonville Jaguars could have interest in A.J. Brown
According to longtime NFL insider Jason La Canfora, the Jacksonville Jaguars are viewed as a possible landing spot for Brown and could potentially flip Pro Bowl receiver Brian Thomas Jr. back to Philadelphia in a deal.
From La Canfora:
"Another personnel exec mentioned Jacksonville as a potential fit for Brown. Jags receiver Brian Thomas, Jr. has regressed and been subject of trade rumors and 2025 top pick Travis Hunter is going to be playing way more cornerback than receiver moving forward and a vet like Brown could help fill a void there."
It remains to be seen if the Eagles would actually want Thomas Jr. back in a trade for Brown. After all of the additions they already made at receiver over the offseason, they might feel comfortable with the group they already have without Brown.
The reporting of Jacksonville's *potential* interest in Brown is interesting nonetheless. Up to this point, the vast majority of reporting about a potential Brown trade has involved the Patriots.
Perhaps more teams will register their interest with Philadelphia as we move closer to June. While this would be bad news for New England, it would be great news for the Eagles, who will be seeking the best possible return in any trade.
