Nebraska football linebacker Willis McGahee IV has withdrawn his name from the transfer portal and will return to the program. This was reported by multiple media outlets on Sunday and confirmed on social media.
He committed to the Huskers in 2023 and enrolled in 2024. As a freshman in 2024, he played in 12 games and recorded 13 tackles, a sack, a pass breakup, and a forced fumble. In the 2025 season, he played in five games and recorded four tackles. He redshirted the rest of the year.
This is a positive development, as it provides continuity for the program's personnel. This gives McGahee a chance to find a solid role under new defensive coordinator Rob Aurich.
There has been significant movement and additions over the past couple of weeks. The Huskers have both added from the portal and revamped their roster in the process. McGahee has a chance to make a huge impact on the defense.
