Nebraska baseball collected another transfer from the portal on Thursday. Outfielder and 2025 North Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year Kellan Burke announced on social media his commitment to Nebraska.
Burke transfers to the Huskers following one season at Cloud County Community College in Kansas. The Minot, North Dakota, native started all 57 games for the Thunderbirds, finishing the season with a .413 batting average. He totaled 93 RBIs, 86 hits, 21 home runs and 16 doubles.
Burke was also named to the All-Tournament Team for the 2026 NJCAA Division I Plains District Baseball Tournament. He batted 5-for-9 in the tournament with two home runs, six runs scored and four RBI.
Burke is currently back home playing for the Minot Hot Tots. The team is affiliated with the Northwoods League, a development league of elite college baseball players. He is currently batting .242 for the Hot Tots, delivering 24 hits, 17 runs, 16 walks, six RBIs, four doubles and two home runs in 26 games.
Prior to college, Burke led Minot High School to a 21-7 record and a berth in the Class A state tournament his senior season. He won the 2025 North Dakota Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year after batting .557 with three home runs, 27 RBI and 33 runs scored. He also recorded 10 stolen bases and threw out over 53 percent of would-be base-stealers from behind the plate.
