Nebraska is in the mix for class of 2028 edge defender Javontae Eldridge. The program recently offered him, and the Huskers have caught his attention.

Eldridge is the 28th overall player at his position and the third overall player in his class from the state of Indiana, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings.

He is beginning to receive an extensive offer sheet that includes schools such as Missouri, Purdue, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech. He most recently visited Notre Dame on June 5.

Eldridge measures in at six-foot-four, 235 pounds. The Huskers have been recruiting the edge position by looking for size and impact playmaking. Eldridge can certainly provide that. It's also worth noting that his recruitment is really taking off, and the program was smart to extend an offer. Edge rushers coach Roy Manning has made it a point to recruit the position heavily.

It's certainly good news that the Huskers are focusing on the position. That has been an area of weakness for several years, and the program is taking steps to rectify it.
