NC State basketball March Madness bracketology, projections on Selection Sunday

NC State basketball is all but assured a place among the 68-team NCAA Tournament to start this week. But what will the Wolfpack be seeded, and where are they headed?

Answers to those questions will come Sunday, March 15, when the men’s March Madness brackets are revealed.

Despite its ACC Tournament run being cut short by an 81-74 loss to Virginia in the ACC Tournament, the Wolfpack is expected to be one of several conference teams to hear their name called on Selection Sunday.

The NCAA Tournament Selection Show is at 6 p.m., and televised on CBS.

Where is NC State projected in the NCAA Tournament?​

• USA Today Sports: In a March 13 projection, NC State is predicted to be a No. 10 seed in the South Region, taking on 7-seed BYU in an opening-round matchup. A win would potentially pit the Wolfpack against No. 2 Connecticut or 15-seed Furman in the round-of-32.
• CBS Sports: NC State is a 10-seed in the East Region, according to CBS Sports’ latest bracket projection, facing No. 7 Villanova in Round 1. Either No. 2 Purdue or 15-seed Siena would await the Wolfpack in second round play, should this prediction come to fruition.
• ESPN’s Joe Lunardi: The Wolfpack are projected as a 10-seed, taking on No. 7 Saint Mary’s in a Midwest Region first-round matchup. A potential second-round date with 2-seed Connecticut or No. 15 Queens would loom in Round 2.
• The Athletic: NC State is projected as an 11-seed in the West Region, taking on No. 6 Tennessee in the round-of-64. If victorious, a matchup with No. 3 Gonzaga or 14-seed Idaho looms.
• Fox Sports: The Wolfpack are a 10-seed in Fox Sports’ latest projection, meeting No. 7 Kentucky in Round 1. A win would set up a matchup against No. 2 Michigan State or 15-seed Sienna in the round-of-32.
