Suns need more than a floor spacer. They need a defensive power forward.

In other words, another Cam Johnson and Dario Saric. Who the hell is supposed to rebound and defend???

James Jones is going to kill this franchise.

And his defense is right up there with Cam Johnson and Dario Saric, thanks to being one of the least athletic players in the league. Another Kyle Korver type.

Making one of the least athletic teams in NBA history even less athletic, when what we need more than anything else is athleticism.

Will Jones ever learn?
There is another word for “athletic shooters” it’s called all stars... and they can’t be had for a couple back up point guards and a protected first round pick in a crappy draft. The deal hinges on the protections on the first round pick. That is what will determine whether this is a good or bad deal.

This franchise has averaged 21 wins over the last 4 years... I hate to tell you, but it was dead long before Jones got here.

And how many @#$!^%& floor spacers do they need??? Jones spent draft night squandering our assets to get FOUR of them. A lot of freaking good that did us.

No matter what the cost, what good does it do us to trade for yet another player that exemplifies and exacerbates what our current weaknesses are (lack of athleticism, poor defense, poor rebounding, over reliance on jump shots, inability to drive to the hoop, lack of inside scoring, softness)?

I'm wondering how the Suns would play Kennard. A first round pick is a lot to give up for a backup point guard. Maybe there would be a three guard rotation of Rubio, Booker and Kennard.

Perhaps the Suns think he could be a future point guard like Brogdon.

If this trade is made I think there has to be another trade in the works.

Or, perhaps, Cam Johnson's injury is in fact worse than reported and is career threatening. Otherwise, one Cam Johnson is bad enough. Why the hell would we want two???

Because we have many (many, many) needs. Two huge needs are bench scoring and bench shooting. Kennard solves that. We still need to add athleticism and toughness to our front court but that doesn’t mean that we should’t fill our other needs as well. We still have a HUGE number one need at power forward, but that doesn’t mean that other needs should just be ignored.

Maybe the Suns use a wing to trade for a FC along with an expiring contract.

So you just want it to STAY dead???
No, it just means that I’m not going to blame James Jones for killing it in EVERY SINGLE THREAD. I am not a Jones fan. I wanted to hire someone with experience and return Jones to a player relations role. But I am not going to claim that he is the one that killed this franchise.

So now you are admitting that the 2019 draft was, in fact, a waste, as none of Cam Johnson, Saric, Baynes and Jerome fill those needs.

The problem is giving up the one asset we have left, our Lottery pick, for more of the same leaves us with no way to get a power forward until at least the 2021 offseason, while we are apparently giving up both our back-up point guards to boot (leaving us without a back-up point guard while our starting point guard is oft-injured), all while making us even LESS athletic and LESS tough.

How in God's name is that a step in the right direction, as opposed to a repeat of the very same myopic approach from draft night 2019???

We're riddled with injuries... so, swapping one of our healthy players and a first round pick for a guy with tendinitis in both knees makes sense.

Sort of amusing, I was speculating earlier (post #451) why these trades are announced in the late evening.

Ah, the proverbial other shoe...first it was a superfluous wing for a point guard...now it's for a FC. Good luck with that one.

And even if it were so, if the wing we give up is Bridges, prepare to give up 150 points a game, as this becomes the worst defensive team in NBA history. At that point we might as well bring Paul Westhead out of retirement...except our players wouldn't have the athleticism to last a single game at his pace...

For James Jones, it makes perfect sense. He wants a roster full of James Joneses.

Pretty much everyone on this board has stated that the 2019 draft was a disaster. You're acting like you were the only one who thought it sucked. It was about as bad of a draft day as it could get. But just because we overpaid for those players doesn’t mean that they aren’t NBA players. Johnson has a chance to be a 3 point specialist. Saric can be a decent back up PF in this league. Baynes is a decent back up C in this league. Jerome has a chance to be a decent back up pg in this league. The problem is, we just way over paid for them. But just because we over paid for them doesn’t mean they don’t have a role in this league. It was a huge waste of resources, but that doesn’t mean that they are a huge waste.

Well, 6 months later, management is looking to mortgage our future just to replicate what they were supposed to give us. Just saying...
