The uncertainty surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future does not appear to be nearing a resolution just yet, as the ongoing situation could take at least another week or two before there is any clarity.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Milwaukee Bucks are not expected to move Antetokounmpo until after the conclusion of the NBA playoffs. The organization reportedly wants to keep its options open and evaluate whether either of the NBA Finals participants, or any additional teams, decide to enter the bidding for the franchise superstar before committing to a deal.
The NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks have already delivered plenty of drama, with New York stealing Game 1 on the road to take a 1-0 series lead. If the matchup goes the distance, the series would continue through June 19. On the other hand, the earliest it could conclude is June 10 if either team completes a four-game sweep.

Meanwhile, the NBA Draft is set for June 23 and 24, meaning a resolution to Antetokounmpo’s future could still be weeks away rather than arriving in the coming days.
The former two-time MVP is set to make $58.5 million next season in the final fully guaranteed year of his contract. With his long-term future in Milwaukee increasingly uncertain and frustration around the team’s direction continuing to grow, the Bucks may be approaching the point where seriously exploring a trade becomes their most realistic option.

Earlier this week, reports indicated that at least five teams are no longer considered serious contenders in the pursuit of Antetokounmpo. Even so, Milwaukee appears content to remain patient, giving itself time to determine whether additional franchises enter the mix and help create a more competitive market for the European superstar.
