Only time can tell what is in store for Milwaukee Bucks superstar power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in the summer.
Or maybe the outcome of the 2026 NBA Finals series between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs can.

NBA insider Chris Haynes recently touched on the subject of Antetokounmpo’s future amid rumors of a potential trade from Milwaukee to somewhere else in the offseason, saying that the New York Knicks could be “in play” for the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player if they end up losing to the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals.

“I think this is the closest he’s come to saying he wants to be moved without saying he wants to be moved. I think signs are pointing to that…. This game (finals) is going to have some implications as well. If the Knicks were to falter to the Spurs, they might be in play for Giannis,” Haynes said (h/tHeat Central).

Will the Knicks go after Antetokounmpo?

From what Haynes shared, it can also be said that the Knicks are only two wins away from perhaps forgetting about any thoughts on going after Antetokounmpo in the offseason. New York is on the verge of winning its first NBA title since 1973 after defeating the Spurs in the first two games of the series.

However, the Knicks can strengthen their chances of winning an NBA championship next season if they somehow pull off a stunning trade for Antetokounmpo, who has one more non-player/team option guaranteed year on his current contract with Milwaukee.
