It didn’t take long for the basketball world to jump to conclusions after a subtle Instagram post sparked wild rumors of a team-up in Philly.

In one of the wilder offseason moves in recent memory, LeBron James shocked the basketball world by taking a massive pay cut to sign with Philadelphia for his 24th season.

But the Sixers didn’t just stop at landing King James to pair with Joel Embiid. Philly pulled off a trade for Celtics star Jaylen Brown, snagged rookie V.J. Edgecombe in the draft, and kept Tyrese Maxey.

The Sixers have an open roster spot, but not enough money under the first apron (they’re hard-capped there) to sign another player until December. But they could make room, as Jabari Walker’s contract is not fully guaranteed until January, but it still leaves them with very little cap space.

NBA fans think Ben Simmons could be on his way to the 76ers​

Ben Simmons posted pics of LeBron James’ sneakers on his Instagram story, which sparked quite the reaction from fans on social media.

One fan thinks the 76ers are about to sign him: “They really about to give this guy another job.”

“Haven’t seen the emoji since…” This fan thinks it points towards a potential return.

This fan thinks he’s secretly calling for a move back to the 76ers: “He soft begging! You had ya chance playa! Nah!”

“Gonna be the coldest waterboy in the league,” another thinks he wouldn’t even play.

Another was left convinced: “They’re going to find a way to bring him back aren’t they.”

It remains to be seen as to whether the 76ers and Ben Simmons would ever reunite, following a playoff fallout in 2021, where the point guard held out from playing and was traded to Brooklyn in 2022.

However, there are rumours that the Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly considering signing Ben Simmons to a one-year veteran’s minimum contract.
