NASHVILLE - Nate Ament has been upgraded to questionable for Tennessee basketball.
The freshman forward is inching closer to a return for the No. 5 seed Vols (21-10) before their second-round game in the SEC Tournament against No. 12 Auburn (17-15) at Bridgestone Arena on March 12 (3 p.m. ET, SEC Network).
Ament has dealt with a right high ankle sprain since Feb. 24. He was listed as doubtful in the Vols' last game against Vanderbilt on March 7, but was held out of the 86-82 loss at Food City Center.
The 6-foot-10 freshman began increasing basketball activity leading into the tournament. He went from working on individual drills on March 10 to going through a full, regular practice with the team at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville on March 11.
The availability report also lists freshman guards Troy Henderson and Amari Evans. Henderson is questionable with a left shoulder injury that coach Rick Barnes said will need surgery after the season.
Evans tweaked his ankle early in the second half against Vanderbilt, but he is listed as probable.
