Tennessee sophomore track and field athlete Mya Strahm set a program record in the women's pole vault Saturday at the Doc Hale Invitational, hosted by Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Strahm recorded a mark of 4.47 meters (14-5). Her effort set a school record by one centimeter and ranks eighth on the national list for the 2025-26 season. She she set Tennessee's freshman record last season after a mark of 4.42 meters (14-6).
Strham also surpassed the program's overall record of 4.46 meters (14-7.5) during the 2024-25 campaign, which was set by her former teammate, set by Sarah Schmitt, who graduated in 2025.
Shrahm highlighted the day that saw Tennessee athletes post three NCAA top eight finishes at Virginia Tech, and at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Illinois.
Sophomore JL Van Rensburg recorded a personal-best mark of 19.83 meters (60-0.75) in the men's shot put in Blacksburg. His throw ranks third in the NCAA this season and is third in Tennessee history.
In Chicago, Lady Vols' graduate student Myreanna Bebe won the women's 60 meter finals, crossing the finish line in 8.06 seconds. Her time ranks sixth in the NCAA this season.
