LINDSIDE, WV (WVNS) – The James Monroe Lady Mavericks picked up a marquee victory yesterday over Woodrow Wilson in their final regular season matchup.

In the fourth quarter, junior shooting guard Mya Dunlap drained her 1,000th career point. She has really been lighting up the stat sheet in this recent stretch, notching 19 against the Flying Eagles.

“I did [know I was close]. They told me I was 19 away the other day but the big pressure…the big weight on your shoulders but I got it,” said Dunlap.

“We felt like if we could get her some looks and I was working to get her looks and finally she started knocking one down. I am so proud of that kid you know – kid that has played varsity minutes since her 9th grade 2026 and been a great performer. I think this year, she is making her statement for first-team all-state captain.”

The Mavericks outmuscled their way to beat Woodrow 53-39. James Monroe finished the regular season with 20 wins and only 1 loss.

They now await the winner of a Tuesday playoff game to see who their opponent will be Friday night to open regionals.
