If the season ended today, the Spartans would land as one of the higher seeds in the NCAA Tournament, according to one college hockey analyst.
A popular college hockey social media account released an updated batch of bracketology projections earlier this week, which has the Spartans cemented in the tournament field. College Puck NXT has Michigan State as a No. 2 seed in the Loveland, Colo.-based region. The Spartans would be slated to face No. 3 seed Denver in the first round of the tournament, according to this bracket projection.
Michigan State ranks as the No. 4 team nationally in this week's USCHO.com poll, and holds an impressive 15-5-0 record on the year. The Spartans, though, haven't been as dominant during the regular season as we've seen in the last two seasons -- which they ended up with No. 1 seeds in each year.
Michigan State is set to play a massive two-game road series at No. 2 Wisconsin this weekend. This will certainly be a set of games that could help raise the Spartans' tournament stock should they come out with a win or two.
