DuBOIS, Pa. – The Mount Aloysius softball team dropped a 5-4 heartbreaker to Penn State Behrend, then dropped a 6-1 decision to Penn State Altoona Friday during the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament.
In the first game, Penn State Behrend's Hannah Smith singled through the left side to drive in Alexia Brown for the walk-off victory.
Smith finished with two hits and two RBIs. Brown and Chloe Nale each doubled.
Alysha Cutri, Taylor Doyle and Isabela Marquez each tallied two hits for Mount Aloysius in the first game.
The game was scoreless through three innings. No. 1 seed Penn State Behrend led 4-3 after six innings.
Mount Aloysius tied it on Sarah Henninger's sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh.
In the second contest, Penn State Altoona scored twice in the first inning and added three in the fifth.
Cambria Heights graduate Karli Storm led Penn State Altoona with three hits, including a double. Storm set the Penn State Altoona softball team's single-season record for runs scored when she crossed home plate in the fifth inning. Her 47th run of the season helped her pass the previous record of 46, which was set by former catcher Erin Cline in 2010.
Madison Kennedy (four RBIs) and Gracie Wilt each doubled among their two knocks. Richland product Kendal Wadsworth added two hits.
Penn State Altoona's Riley Best fired five innings, allowing one run and two walks without striking out a batter. Kennedy went the final two frames.
Marquez totaled two hits, and Ava Doyle tripled and drove in a run in the fifth.
No. 6 seed Mount Aloysius finished with a 15-25 record.
Penn State Altoona meets Penn State Behrend in the championship game Saturday. Penn State Altoona will need to win twice since Penn State Behrend is unbeaten in the double-elimination tournament.
