Taken from another thread. These movies have spawned multiple classics. The themes / characters have lasted far beyond their films and have influenced cinema for decades.

#1. Seven Samurai
#2. It's a Wonderful Life

I said It's a Wonderful Life #1 but that is incorrect. It's Seven Samurai for sure and It's a Wonderful Life #2.

Neither one is correct. Countless screwball comedies from the 40's are still being copied today.

It Happened One Night
His Girl Friday
Philadelphia story

All copied more than the others.

It's laughable to list It's A Wonderful Life since it isn't an original but an adaptation of A Christmas Carol. Shouldn't A Christmas Carol be listed since that is how IAW came about?

You do know Star Wars is a copy of Shakespeare and a mish mash of Kurosawa films right?
And Joseph Campbell and Tolkien and Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon serials, etc. Lucas had lots of inspirations.

Trying to think of new ones …

I Am Legend has been made three times now. Four, I guess, if the new one is a sequel or reboot.

Dracula in various iterations has to be up there.
