The Boston Bruins can punch a ticket to the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Saturday.

Boston is holding onto the top Wild Card spot and can clinch a playoff spot with a win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. It’s an important game for the Bruins to clinch a playoff spot, and it could allow the team to rest some key players in the final regular-season games.

So, ahead of the matchup, Bruins forward Morgan Geekie said it’s a crucial game for the team to clinch and get a bit of a reset before the playoffs.

“I think it kind of speaks for itself,” Geekie said after practice on Friday. “Just the magnitude of these games and how important they are to getting off on the right foot. We’re kind of just focused on tomorrow. We know we can kind of control our own destiny.

“Just try to put ourselves in a position to play a good, solid 60 minutes. I think for us to win the next game and just take a deep breath and kind of reset before the playoffs would be great. We’ve got a big task tomorrow. They’re a good team.”

The Bruins enter play at home on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. ET against the Lightning. Boston being able to clinch a playoff berth would be huge to do at home, and could allow the team to take the final two games off.

But the Bruins still have work to do to clinch a playoff berth, which Geekie and the rest of the team are focused on.
