The Moorhead-to-Minnesota pipeline continues apace, as cornerback Zak Walker becomes the fourth Spud in this recruiting cycle to grab an oar and verbally commit to the Golden Gophers.
He joins running back Taye Reich, wide receiver David Mack, and quarterback Jett Feeney.
After a great visit and talk with my family I have decided to commit to the University of Minnesota. The people, culture, and player development make it a place I am proud to call home. Row the Boat! pic.twitter.com/6vgOa5J5SC

Scouting Report
Walker is a clear cut developmental prospect. Don’t expect him to see the field early in his career, as he needs to continue to add strength and refine his pass coverage technique. But what makes Walker a prospect worth a scholarship are his speed and explosiveness. He is one of the top track athletes in the state of Minnesota, and his speed enables him to go step for step with opposing team’s best receivers. His ball skills translate on both sides of the ball, as he has shown playmaking ability as both a cornerback and a wide receiver. If he can continue to improve his route-mirroring and hip-turning on shorter routes, Walker could excel in press man coverage.
