ELDON — Matthew Blomme struck out Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont's first six batters of Monday's South Central Conference doubleheader before bringing in the first of Cardinal's 23 runs with an RBI double to right in the second inning of the opening contest. Cardinal rolled to a 13-3 win in game one against EBF before securing the sweep with a 10-0 victory in game two, maintaining their position atop the SCC standings.
Alijah Frase added an RBI double to left before coming home on a two-run single by Weston O'Leary as part of Cardinal's six-run rally early in game one. Blomme struck out eight of the nine Rocket hitters faced in three innings on the mound before bringing in a run on an infield RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.
Blomme struck out eight more batters over 3 2/3 innings in game two. Cayden Courtney added a home run and a pair of doubles at the plate in the nightcap, driving in three runs while scoring three times.
Emmett Holohan was the only EBF batter to collect a hit in both games against Cardinal. Kayden Nichols singled and scored EBF's first run in game one while Cole Fisher delivered an RBI single to right, bringing home Keller Little in the fifth cutting Cardinal's opening-game lead to 10-2.
Cardinal (12-2, 10-2 SCC) travels to Knoxville on Wednesday for the rubber match in a key battle between the conference's top two teams. EBF (4-12, 2-10 SCC) heads to Clarke to make-up a conference contest on Tuesday.
Albia 10-9, Clarke 0-7
OSCEOLA — Bryson Reed delivered a clutch two-run go-ahead double to right with the bases loaded in the sixth inning of game two, rallying Albia late to complete a South Central Conference doubleheader sweep against the Indians.
Drake Irwin and Conner McFall each added RBI hits for the Blue Demons during the sixth inning of the nightcap, erasing Clarke's 7-5 lead. Reed added a home run as part of three-hit night in game two, driving in a team-leading five runs.
Jaxon Strickler pitched a one-hit shutout over six innings in game one, striking out seven batters for the Blue Demons. Irwin connected on three hits in the opener, driving in two runs while scoring three times helping Albia put up six runs in the second inning to build a commanding 7-0 advantage.
Albia (6-12, 4-8 SCC) hosts Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in conference action on Wedesday.
Centerville 7-15, Chariton 10-5
CENTERVILLE — After another rally fell short against the Chargers in the opening game of a South Central Conference doubleheader, the Big Reds dominated early putting up 12 runs in the first three innings of the second game to secure a split at Pat Daugherty Field.
Logan Caraccio connected on four hits in game two, driving in three runs for Centerville including a two-run single to give Centerville a 3-0 lead in the opening inning and an RBI single in the sixth to clinch the win. Conner Lancaster added three hits in game two, scoring four of Centerville's 15 runs after connecting on a two-run single in the fifth inning of game one, pulling the Big Reds within 8-7.
Centerville (10-7, 7-5 SCC) travels to Bloomfield on Wednesday, weather permitting, for a conference clash with Davis County.
Knoxville 12-6, Davis County 1-5
BLOOMFIELD — The Panthers struck early in game one, scoring five runs on five hits in the opening inning, before coming through late to rally from a four-run deficit scoring twice in the seventh and final inning to complete the South Central Conference sweep.
Max Taylor drilled a two-out, bases-clearing double in the second inning of game two giving Davis County an early 5-1 lead. Noah Sizemore connected on a pair of hits in game one, including a triple, for Davis County scoring the team's lone run.
After hosting Mount Pleasant on Tuesday in non-conference action, Davis County (9-8, 5-7 SCC) hosts Centerville on Wednesday, weather permitting.
Fairfield 7-3 (8), Burlington 1-4
FAIRFIELD — Adrian Perez Hall struck out Ethan Bisgard and Jaxon Coleman in the bottom of the eighth, stranding the potential tying and winning runs on base, as Burlington handed Fairfield its first loss in Southeast Conference play in a thrilling extra-inning opening contest of Monday's key doubleheader.
Dayson Workman kept Fairfield alive in the nightcap, bringing in a pair of runs on a ground ball that turned into an error as the Trojans erased a 3-0 deficit heading into the bottom of the seventh.
The Trojans handed Burlington its first conference loss, winning 7-1 in the opening game of the doubleheader. Aiden Westercamp doubled as part of a three-hit effort, driving in four runs, while Dain Burkhart went the distance on the mound allowing one run on four hits and a walk.
Fairfield (11-4, 5-1 Southeast) heads to Mount Pleasant for a conference contest on Thursday.

DONNELSON — Zandrik Allison reached on a key error with two outs in the top of the sixth, bringing home Carson Comstock and Hudson Deutsch to snap a 1-1 tie as the Panthers pulled out a thrilling road win.
Henry Adam and Nolan Glick, who pitched the Panthers to a district championship last season, combined to hold the Hawks to just one run on three hits while striking out 13 batters. Adam picked up the win, pitching into the sixth inning, before Glick earned the save striking out the final four Central Lee batters.
Pekin (8-1) hosts Hillcrest Academy in Southeast Iowa Superconference north division doubleheader on Tuesday.
Moravia 16, Mormon Trail 0
MORAVIA — The Mohawks earned another dominant win over the Saints, winning by 16 runs for the second time this season over their Bluegrass Conference rivals.
Moravia (8-4, 5-1 Bluegrass) hosts Seymour in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Van Buren County 12, Wapello 1
WAPELLO — Seven runs in the final inning, including a trio of runs scored on bunts, put away a road win for the Warriors.
Cree Kite went the distance on the mound for Van Buren County, allowing just one hit to Eric Barrick over seven innings while striking out 11 batters.
Van Buren County (5-8) hosts West Burlington in Southeast Iowa Superconference south division action on Tuesday.
Murray 12, Moulton-Udell 2
MURRAY — Wyatt Patton connected on four hits, including a pair of doubles, while driving in four runs in a win over Bluegrass Conference rival M-U.
Trayton Knowler and Allen Pace connected on the only two hits of the contest for the Eagles, scoring both runs. Wyatt Brinegar brought in Pace in the fourth with a sacrifice fly to right.
Moulton-Udell (1-11, 1-9 Bluegrass) heads to Lamoni on Thursday.
