In an unpredictable 2026 French Open, 17-year-old Moise Kouame emerges as the home country’s last hope to win the men’s singles title.
The French have been enamored with their hometown heroes for years, hoping that one could do what Yannick Noah did, winning Roland Garros in 1983.
It has not happened, but the charismatic tennis stars that have come forward since then, Gael Monfils, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, and Arthur Fils, to name a few, have not done what Kouame may do at the 2026 French Open, bring the title home to France.

He has the game, maturity, and is so likeable in everything he does including sticking his head in the cooler to deal with this year’s intense Paris heat wave.
It is a wide open French Open with Carlos Alcaraz injured, and Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic out of the draw. A maiden Grand Slam champion will be crowned. Could it be Kouame?

His section of the draw is opportune. He plays Chilean Alejandro Tabilo on Saturday. The highest ranked player he could meet to get to the quarterfinals is fourth seed Felix Auger Aliassime. Beyond FAA, the next highest seeded player potentially in his path to the quarters is tenth seed Flavio Cobolli.
