With LeBron James still yet to announce which team he will play for this coming NBA season, there are some rumors out there that a couple of the teams he's reportedly considering are considering ways to lure him.
The Golden State Warriors have been interested in trading for Anthony Davis, James' former co-superstar on the Los Angeles Lakers. The Cleveland Cavaliers, the team James began his career with, are reportedly keeping a roster spot open for Bronny, his son.
There is already some thinking that James is definitely heading back to Cleveland and that it is only a matter of time before it becomes official.
If the Cavaliers were to listen to one writer, perhaps they would make a big trade that would reunite James with another one of his All-Star championship teammates, should he decide to return to Northeast Ohio.
Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed a three-team trade that would bring Kyrie Irving back to Cleveland. In this deal, the Cavs would also receive big man Daniel Gafford and forward Naji Marshall from the Dallas Mavericks, the Mavericks would get center Jarrett Allen and guard Dennis Schröder from Cleveland and the Miami Heat would get James Harden from Cleveland while sending power forward Nikola Jovic and point guard Davion Mitchell to Dallas.
When James went back to Cleveland in 2014, he immediately teamed up with Irving, who was then going into his fourth pro season. The duo led the Cavaliers to their first NBA championship in 2016 before Irving forced a trade a year later.
Now 34 years of age, Irving didn't play at all this past season after tearing his ACL in March 2025. The general expectation seems to be that he will still be a star-level player once he returns, but there has been some speculation that the Mavericks could look to move Irving, even though it seems unlikely right now.
