Jun. 27—MITCHELL — The Mitchell-based Venom Sting 10-and-under softball team has had a successful June on the diamonds, claiming a pair of tournament titles.
The squad had a strong showing at the Denny Redmond Memorial Tournament in Sioux Falls on June 20-22. They went undefeated in six games with wins over the Vermillion Flamez (2-1), Volga Vortex (16-6), Southwest Storm, Worthington (Minn.) (10-2 and 10-7) Sioux Falls Yellowjackets (15-4) and beat the Vermillion Flamez again 12-2 in the championship.
The Venom Sting claimed a tournament championship at the Sioux Empire Fastpitch Summer Showdown on June 8, and finished third at the Interlakes Madison tournament on June 15.
The Venom Sting will finish up their season at the state fastpitch tournament on July 20.
Members of the team include Kaydence Knutson, Bentlee Kitto, Raelynn Geidel, Tana Walz, Sophie DeGeest, Haddie Amick, Tenley Odens, London Backlund, Aspen James, Makaia Hetland and Roslyn Beaver. Coaches of the team include Darin Amick, Christina Odens, Josh Odens and Jacey Schoenrock.
