Yet another snow day here in Snowachusetts, which means yet another Mitch Mock. This time I am going all out---no holds barred.

TRADE: The Arizona Cardinals trade the #5 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft to the Detroit Lions for the Lions' #13, #75 and #137 picks and a 4th rounder in 2012.

The Lions desperately want one of the two premier CBs...and with this trade they are able to pick the player they wanted most, Nebraska CB Prince Amukamara.

I am having a difficult time deciding which OLB prospect I like best---between Von Miller, Robert Quinn, Aldon Smith and Justin Houston. Actually, having spent a few hours watching all of them in detail, the player I like best for the Cardinals is Justin Houston. I love Miller's speed, but we already have a smallish OLB in O'Brien Schofield and Houston can play either the strong or the weak side. Same with Quinn...and if the year off hasn't hurt him, he'd be a great pick. Smith is dynamic, but the rawest of the batch and hasn't played much standing up.

So, these are the picks:

13. Justin Houston, OLB, 6-3, 258, Georgia. Quickest first step in the draft. A starter from day one.

38. Martez Wilson, ILB, 6-4, 250, Illinois. Instinctive and versatile. Like Houston, has the size at the position the Cardinals need. Another starter from day one. Plus, he's got edge pass rushing skills and at times can line up opposite Houston in the four man rush.

69. Darvin Adams, WR, 6-3, 185, Auburn. Having the extra third round pick enables this pick---a pick that becomes necessary with the uncertainty of Fitzgerald's and Breaston's situations. This kid is an outstanding playmaker and has the ability to be a go-to WR, which he was for the past two QBs at Auburn. Can stretch the field---which, for our offense, is a huge asset.

75. Rodney Hudson, G, 6-2, 295, Florida St. Best pulling and pass protecting guard in his class. The addition of this Seminole will have Darnell Dockett all a-twitter.

102. Luke Stocker, TE, 6-6, 240, Tennessee. Having a very good week in Mobile providing the ability to sustain his blocks and make nifty catches and RACs. Has good soft hands and ideal height. The addition of this Volunteer will have Dan Williams all a-twitter.

133. Tom Keiser, OLB, 6-5, 244, Stanford. He becomes the Cardinals' poor man's version of Mike Vrable. Can play outside and inside in the 3-4. Good pass rusher---good tackle for loss defender---smart---aggressive---and, like Vrable, can play TE on the goal-line. I still want Mark Herzlich for this role...but, I have a feeling some team is going to take him in the 3rd round. The ESPN coverage of Herzlich and where he goes will be intense.

137. Karl Klug, 34DE, 6-4, 270, Iowa. We need depth at 34DE and this kid is suprisingly active---has a quick burst inside. Is disruptive. And, better yet, is a leader. Klug and Kenny Iwebema will be the Hawkeye backups to Dockett and Campbell.

166. Nathan Enderle, QB, 6-5, 223, Idaho. This addition of this Vandal will have Max Komar all a-twitter. Has good size and touch. Better than advertised arm and accuracy. Has plenty of talent---needs time and coaching. I still have my eye on Greg McElroy and it's one of the reasons why I wanted to add two extra picks from the Lions---but, I have a feeling that he is going to go earlier than people expect---I could see him going late in the 3rd round or being Carolina's first pick in the 4th round.

179. Shiloh Keo, S, 5-10, 214, Idaho. Played very well in the East-West Shrine game. Plays with great toughness and determination. Will star on STs and make a run for PT in the nickel and dime packages. Fundamental tackler---sniffs the ball out in a flash. Is very smart and aggressive in coverage. A tad undersized which is why he's still available in the 6th round.

I'm not seeing Hudson being available at 75. From everything I'm reading he's easily been the best G at the Senior Bowl

More good stuff Mitch. I always enjoy reading your stuff.

Question I have about Houston is this..

In terms of the pass rush skills, may be the most fluid and fast in the draft. With him he has some glaring flaws. I project him as more of a 4-3 RE instead of a 3-4 OLB. Putting him as a 3-4 OLB negates his strengths. His motor also runs extremely cold at times and consistency isn't his biggest plus. Don't expect him to be more than a pass rusher either, as this guy is Elvis Dumerville Part II, minus the motor.

He's got potential galore, but after Alan Branch and Gabe Watson, is someone with a hot-cold motor worth the investment?

IMO the draft will give us interesting insight into the Cards' feelings on keeping Steve Breaston. They won't have any real idea of how Komar/Stephen Williams are progressing through the offseason.

If the Cards draft a WR in the first three rounds, Breaston is likely going to be a free agent departure, barring VERY little interest from the rest of the league. If the Cards stand pat at the position and don't draft anyone on the first two days, the signal will be that they have a good idea of what Breaston wants and are willing to pay it.

I always hear the Von Miller/Clay Matthews comparison but IMO Houston is closer to the Claymaker than Miller. Houston strikes me as a poor man's Clay, he doesn't have the Bull rush, but that's something that needs to be developed.

Stocker is one of my favorite players in this draft...which means we won't get him.

We got ripped off on those traded picks. We should at least get the #13, 44 and 106.

I wouldn't call Justin Houston a hot and cold type player. He's been about as close to consistent as you could ask for the past 2 seasons and he's shown improvement in his game mechanics in each of his college seasons. Watching game film, I don't see him take plays off either.

As far as the 3-4 OLB negating his strengths, in 2010 when Georgia made the switch to the 3-4, Justin Houston managed to have his most productive season.

I would turn backflips if we selected Houston, even at 5. I think he's a star at OLB & a guy the new DC is going to need to be successful. IMO Houston will raise his stock at the combine.

I agree, Bucky. The OLB studs will go flying off the board early and often. The first half of the first round will be dominated by the top defensive players. Teams can get some offense later in this draft. I would venture to say that of the first 64 picks, over 40 of them will be defensive players.

Front 7 is absurdly deep in this draft. Fairley, Bowers, Dareus, Quinn, Kerrigan, Ayers, Aldon Smith, Von Miller, Jordan Cameron, will all go in the top 15.

60% of the Top 15 picks will be for the Front 7.

Clayborne, Heyward, Houston, Watt, Corey Liuget, Muhammad Wilkerson will also most likely go in the first round. 15/32 first round picks will be for the Front 7

O.O

The team I look to try and trade up is Dallas. JJ is said to want either Peterson or the Prince. Dallas has the 9th and 40th picks to trade up to 5. That may sound like too much on Dallas's parts but remember a few years ago Cleveland gave up their 2nd rounder to Buffalo, I think, to move up 1 spot from 7 to 6 and take Kellen Winslow jr. Then I saw where the Dallas CB's,Jenkins and Newman, were both in the top 5 in the NFL in allowed yards per pass attempt. Jenkins was #1. Sitting at 9 the Cards could still easily get Quinn, Miller, Houston, or one of the OT's.

We'll Waxface Jones was on TV here in Dallas this week stating he was happy with his starting CB's & wouldnt use a high pick on one. We will see, but I believe he will got OT in Rd 1.

Not sure the Lions would do that deal. They need players as badly as Cards do. Dallas, yes. They could afford to do it.

I think Detroit is in much better shape than the Cards are.

They have a good young QB. They have a good recieving core with Megatron and that TE who's name I'm blanking on. Best shows promise at RB, and they have another guy who's name I can't remember. Offensively, all they really need to do is improve their O-Line.

Defensively they're pretty good. Chaos n Suh's and the guys around him give them the best D-Line in the league. The Linebackers are good enough. They really badly need to improve their secondary, but IMO the Lions are in excellent shape for the future.

Another year for their guys to mature, some beef upfront and if by some miracle Amukamara slips to them watch out. That'd be a scary team.

The Cards conversely need a QB, an O-line, their recieving corps in order, New LBs and New Corners. IMO if the Cards could trade back for the Lions 1st and 2nd I'd be thrilled.

I think the Lions would be too because the slight chance that Patterson drops is tempting and Amukamara isn't exactly a tough pick to settle for.

I like Wilson as well but I think he's a Dansby clone and better suited to OLB in a 4-3 or the WILB in the 3-4 a spot already taken by Daryl Washington.

I agree with those who have been touting Kelvin Shepard for the SILB spot.

Some of those guys will slide IMO. Remember, teams place so much of a premium on secondary players, some guys we're not talking about right now will go in the 1st round.

I see Jordan slipping out of the 1st round. Solid lineman, nothing spectacular. Could see one of Clayborne or Heyward dropping, Watt, Liugent and Wilkerson won't.

Nate Irving. Best ILB in the draft. Bank on it.

35" on the ground here, with 5' drifts. I'm 5'11" and it's up to my thighs. Great job Mitch, we are supposed to get blasted with another 12" of snow again Wednesday, looking forward to your Mock 5.0.
