Here we go again.
Missouri State football enters another transfer portal window ahead of its move to the FBS level and Conference USA, and it has clear needs on both sides of the ball.
Bears coach Ryan Beard is in for a busy recruiting period. He primarily needs to add to his defense after his linebacker group has been depleted due to transfer portal departures over the last few months. He has also voiced the need to add interior defensive linemen, offensive linemen, wide receivers, and a cornerback or two.
Beard has done a solid job at identifying and developing players in those positions, specifically linebacker since the Petrino-Beard era started in 2020. The Bears have had a lot of success recruiting the transfer portal, adding star players to the program's resurgence. Such players include Jason Shelley, Jacob Clark, Ty Scott, Raylen Sharpe, Montrae Braswell, Kyriq McDonald, and others.
Here are the latest transfer portal updates for Missouri State football in this spring window:
This will be updated when players commit to the Bears.
Mason was the Bears' top returning receiver after catching 34 passes for 590 yards and six touchdowns last season. He was an FCS All-America third-team honoree.
Teason figured to be a starter at linebacker heading into this year. He was an FCS Freshman All-American after ranking third on the team in total tackles when playing more as a rotational player.
The former Indiana transfer played in two games in his lone season with the Bears.
A former Tennessee walk-on and JUCO transfer, Valentine didn't play in any games for the Bears in his lone season with the program.
The former West Plains star appeared in five games across two years with the Bears.
