STARKVILLE — Mississippi State baseball pitcher Charlie Foster has entered the transfer portal, he told The Clarion Ledger on June 11.
The sophomore began the season as a weekend starter but struggled and fell out of the rotation, getting replaced by Duke Stone. Then he was reinserted into the rotation after Ryan McPherson suffered a forearm strain March 20 against Vanderbilt that cost him six weeks.
Foster had two good SEC starts against Ole Miss and South Carolina, but had trouble against Georgia, Tennessee, LSU and Texas. He came out of the starting rotation when McPherson returned in May against Auburn, and Foster only pitched one more time in 2026, allowing two runs in one inning against Texas A&M in the final series of the regular season.
The left-hander from Snellville, Georgia had a 6.69 ERA and 0-3 record in 36⅓ innings.
The transfer portal opened June 1 and closes June 30.
The Bulldogs are slated to return all three weekend starters — McPherson, Stone and Tomas Valincius — for 2027 as well as standout freshmen Maddox Miller and Jack Bauer.
