Say what you want about the big league team but our farm system has got some major talent in from A to AA. Give kudos finally to Allison, the 2009 draft class is really looking good. Some guys that have bright futures ahead of them:

AAA
1B Brandon Allen - Will replace LaRoche if he is dealt or isn't re-signed.

RHP Matt Torra - Finally putting it together, having a decent year so far, could be a back of the rotation guy or an effective reliever.

RHP Wes Roemer - Smallish guy, same draft class as Enright. Was tearing it up in AA but has been taken down a peg in AAA, maybe another relief option.

AA
RHP - Jarrod Parker - Ace and #1 prospect in ARZ minor league system. Will most likely start in AAA next year but should get call up early in season.

C Konrad Schmidt - Undrafted guy IIRC, having a really nice year. Nice to have C depth in the system.

OF Colin Cowgill - Not going to be a superstar but another guy with a little bit of pop, 12 HRs, 66 RBIs, leading team with 29 doubles with .290 average.

LHP Wade Miley - 4-1 1.61 ERA 1.13 WHIP, another possibility for the pen.

A
LHP Patrick Corbin - Part of the Haren trade that looks to be a good SP down the road. Excellent K/BB ratio.

RHP Charles Brewer - Local kid who prior to trades was IMO the #2 P prospect in our system prior to trades.

LHP Tyler Skaggs - PTBNL in Haren trade sports a 3.69 ERA with a 4:1 K/BB ratio at just 19 years old. Could be a solid #2 in a few years.

OF Marc Krauss - Excellent college player who production has not dropped off in the pros. Could be LF of future.

1B Paul Goldschmidt - Leads minors in HR's with 31 but unlike most power hitters he can hit for average too, .306, could make Allen expendable if he continues or excellent trade chip.

1B Yazy Arbelo - Not as known as Allen or Goldschmidt but playing extremely well with Yakima, 11 HR's, 42 RBI's, .295 BA in 43 games so far.

3B Bobby Borchering - Last year's 1st rounder, who is starting to heat up, .275 BA, 11 HR's, 59 RBIs .

DH/1B/3B Matt Davidson - Making teams regret letting him slide to supplemental round, leading SB with 14 HRs, 72 RBIs & sports a .296 BA.

Other notables: SS Chris Owings, OF Keon Broxton, RHP Eric Smith, LHP Mike Belfiore, 1B Bobby Stone

Ollie Linton in AA seems to be playing really well lately and has some tools.

17 year old Mateo Wagner, ironically enough, has been showing pretty advanced plate discipline for his age. Encouraging given the physical gifts.

I totally agree with the OP though. In the last 14 months, the talent level throughout the system has risen dramatically.

Mateo is the guy who signed with the Cardinals for $3 million but had his contract voided because they didn't think his eyes would hold up. We ended up signing him for something like $500,000. If his eyes are fine then we got ourselves a steal.
