Millersport softball player Kendyl Bonkowski was selected the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Girls Athlete of the Week for April 27-May 3.
Bonkowski broke the school career strikeout record of 620. She has 652 now. She also broke her own record of single-season strikeouts (217) and has 222.
Bonkowski received 43.8% of the vote and was followed by Upper Arlington softball player Gabriella Duguid, who received 32.4%, and Pickerington Central lacrosse player Raegan Fowler (11.3%),
Also nominated were and Teays Valley softball players Micah and Avery Mann, Delaware Hayes softball player Hannah McAllister, Westerville Central softball player Lexi Latier and Upper Arlington lacrosse player Ellie King.
Duguid, the runner-up, went 3-0 with 23 strikeouts and a 1.30 ERA. She finished the week with a complete game shutout against Delaware Hayes, striking out nine.

In two games, Fowler had 10 goals, 11 assists and four ground balls. In an 18-7 win over Pickerington North, she had five goals, seven assists, 12 points (tying the school record for points in a game), and three ground balls. In a 15-7 win over Beavercreek, she had five goals, four assists, 9 points, and one ground ball. This season she has broken two school records (career assists, season assists) and tied two others (assists in a game, points in a game).
In five games in which their team 4-1, Micah and Avery Mann had a combined batting average of .676 with 22 RBIs and 21 runs scored
McAllister struck out 25 and allowed three runs and nine hits in two games, a 2-1 win over Dublin Scioto and 2-0 loss to Upper Arlington.
Latier went 12 for 20 with seven doubles and 11 RBIs in five games, all of which the Warhawks won.
King had seven goals, three assists and eight draw controls in a 16-5 win over Medina. In three games, all wins, she had 11 goals and 14 draw controls.
The Athlete of the Week voting recognizes athletes across all sports.
Nominations are due Monday mornings for competitions that took place the previous week. The boys poll is live until 4 p.m. Fridays. The girls poll is live until 4 p.m. Saturdays.
Anyone can nominate an athlete by email to [email protected] or through X (formerly Twitter) tagging @BrianWhite13.
Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. Athletes who have not been a recipient of one of the weekly awards can be nominated more than once.
