JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Austin Lafferty doubled in two runs as the Johnstown Mill Rats evened their record with a 6-5 victory over the Kokomo Creek Chubs Sunday afternoon at Sargent's Stadium at the Point.
Lafferty's double highlighted a three-run fourth inning when Johnstown led 5-0.
Brock Budacki and Caleb Smith each totaled two hits for the 3-3 Mill Rats. Budacki tripled and Jake Newman doubled. Hudson Hartgrove provided an RBI groundout in the eighth for an important insurance run.
Johnstown starter Nathan Holowka went 4 1/3 innings, striking out two and allowing two runs. Mason Miles went 2 2/3 frames, fanning six to earn the victory. Caden Sivrich notched the two-inning save, permitting three runs (one earned) and punching out three batters.
Kokomo Creek's Dane DeWees tallied two hits, including a double. Brayden Bruner and Lincoln Cardwell each doubled. Collin Osenbaugh drovein two runs. Reliever Nolan Decker fanned seven and allowed one unearned run in 4 1/3 innings.
The Mill Rats travel to Chillicothe Tuesday night.
