I don't see what the Cardinals get from being so coy about injuries. Just be honest with your fans about what's going on with the team to set realistic expectations. It's not that hard.

Also, Benson is still in rehab, from an MCL Tear? His knee must be really messed up. That's a 6 week injury, 8 week MAX.

Thought this was interesting from LaFleur ahead of the draft:

"You don't have to go out and reach for anything now because of what Monti and the team did in terms of bringing in guys that have played a lot of football in this league."

I agree it's interesting.
To me that says no Love.

MCLs can be tricky. The big concern is ligament instability with can extend rehab. It’s rare but infection can also delay recovery. It’s certainly not good news that Benson is not ready to compete, but it’s early to panic. Still don’t see it leading to Love.

I don't think he had an MCL injury, he tore his meniscus. He went in for a routine meniscus debridement, something that would only take 4-6 weeks to recover from.

The meniscus is supposed to cushion the joints, protect cartilage, prevent bone on bone rubbing. If he's still rehabing his routine surgery 6 months later, that means something went very wrong. If his knee meniscus is messed up, my mind goes to accelerated arthritis and chronic pain/instability.

LaFleur said Walt Nolen, James Conner, Trey Benson are all “trending well” in their rehabs. Wouldn’t say for sure they would be ready for season because it’s too far away, but sounded confident.

Telling you the fact that Benson is still rehabbing tells us either that original injury was way worse than they told us it was, or he had some other setback they didn't tell us about.

He got hurt 9/25, that's 6 months with what they told us was a meniscus. In December 3 months after the injury he was posting online how hard he worked to get back and how disappointed he was but "it wasn't gods plan".

3 months after that he's still rehabbing. I would bet anything he had another surgery.

They said Meniscus not MCL. The whole thing was always weird he'd already had surgery by the time they told us he was going to be out.

MCLs can be tricky.

Except I misspoke. It was a torn meniscus. And my father is orthopedic surgeon. So is my best friend. Hell… I just had a meniscus tear last year. They are routinely NOT tricky (according to those very well respected orthopedic surgeons who performed those surgeries in their sleep) and if it is, there’s either bigger issues at play or they’re lying about what the initial injury was, for some stupid reason again.

Yeah there's something they haven't told us.

This.

Was my bad putting us down the MCL road. Mixed it up with torn meniscus, which I knew wasn’t a major surgery.

I go to the surgeon tomorrow to talk about my torn meniscus. I did alot of research on it, watching the surgery, interviews with surgeons. My big takeaway is that it's something that takes a long time to heal, if ever completely, because it's basically cartilage that gets almost no blood flow. I think most people (non-athletes probably) don't get surgery and eventually after several months, the symptoms get better. If you're young and the tissue isn't too brittle, they can stitch it. Or if you have a parrot beak situation, they can snip off that hanging bit. That's what I'm going to ask about.

The best advice I got on helping with the healing is to avoid any kind of twisting action. Walk like a robot. Forward and back. That's it. Pick up your feet to grab something in the kitchen instead of twisting. That has helped me. But I can't imagine being a football player and dealing with this. I'll never feel real confident about doing any kind of twisting and planting off this knee.
