OZARK, Mo. — Haven Bridge tossed a one-hitter, and Landon Pecht knocked in two runs as Mifflin County moved into the semifinals of the 13-16 Division Babe Ruth World Series on Thursday at Ozark Mountain Sports Complex in Ozark, Mo.
With the 5-0 win over the Pacific Southwest Region champion — Hanford, Calif. — Mifflin County (5-0) will face either San Carlos or Eagle Pass (Tex.) at 3 p.m. at Pirate Park in Branson in the semifinals.
Mifflin County beat San Carlos, 9-8 in 12 innings, in the opening game of pool play.
The other semifinal pits Chinese Taipei against the Europe representative — the London Archers — at noon. The championship game is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Mifflin County took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Max Trawitz reached on an error to open the inning. Pecht then singled to put runners on the corners.
Trawitz then scored on a double play.
Colton Aumiller made it 2-0 in the third when he tripled, and scored on an error.
Pecht made it 4-0 in the fourth with a two-run single after Jett Powell doubled, and Jude Zook reached on an error.
In the fifth inning, Kooper Walters singled and stole second. Walters took third on Aumiller's groundout before Liam Shaffer's sacrifice fly made it 5-0.
Bridge allowed a leadoff single to open the game, and then retired 14 hitters in a row before a two-out walk in the fifth. Bridge finished with seven strikeouts and two walks in his 97-pitch complete game.
