When it comes to the players expected to be on the field this fall, Michigan State is the oldest bunch in the Big Ten.
It was reported on Friday that Michigan State is set to have the oldest roster in the Big Ten, with an average age of 20.64 years old per player. Now, new data shows that Michigan State will also have the oldest projected starters in the Big Ten.
According to Jon "JR" Rhoades of The Big Ten Huddle podcast, the average age for a projected starter on Michigan State is 22.36 years old. The Spartans are the only team in the Big Ten with their average age of starters greater than 22 years old, with Illinois and Indiana second in the league at 21.91 years old.
Michigan State is looking to bounce back and snap a four-year bowl drought this upcoming season under new head coach Pat Fitzgerald. The Spartans are projected by many to finish near the bottom of the Big Ten, but having a veteran starting lineup to rely on could help lead to Michigan State exceeding expectations.
