Pat Fitzgerald’s attention has been on Michigan State football’s2027 class, but he’s not finished assembling this year’s team.
The Spartans picked up a commitment from linebacker/edge rusher Aidan Boehle on Thursday, June 11. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound native of Minnetonka, Minnesota, spent the past three seasons at Division II Winona State and has two years of eligibility remaining.

As a redshirt sophomore last season for the Warriors, Boehle had two sacks among his four tackles in his eight games. He played in three games in 2024 as a redshirt freshman and had two tackles after arriving as a two-star recruit in the 2023 class. Boehle was ranked the nation's 201st edge rusher and 2,678th overall player in 2023 according to 247 Sports' composite rankings.
The Spartans, who are in the middle of their summer workouts, open their season Friday, Sept. 4 (8 p.m., FS1) at home against Toledo in Fitzgerald’s debut. MSU went 4-8 last season and 9-15 the past two years under former coach Jonathan Smith.
