After a week that started by winning a national championship in Indianapolis, Michigan is making news once again.
Dusty May and his Wolverines staff pulled in Tennessee transfer forward J.P. Estrella from the transfer portal, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. One of the most coveted big-men in the portal heads to Ann Arbor from Knoxville with tremendous potential.
The 6-foot-11 big man averaged 21.8 points per game, while playing all 40 minutes consistently. A huge addition for the Wolverines, who are expected to lose several talented players to the NBA Draft, including Yaxel Lendeborg and Aday Mara, Morez Johnson. Mara should return to Michigan, but will likely test the NBA waters.
Outside of snagging Estrella, Michigan is considered a front-runner for a few top players in the transfer portal. Wake Forest guard Juke Harris is considered to be high on the Wolverines list for next season. The consensus top player in the transfer portal averaged 21.4 points per game last season.

Michigan got a good look at Estrella during this year's Elite Eight matchup against Tennessee. The Scarborough, Maine native has two years of eligibility remaining starting next season.
