Indianapolis – Michigan point guard Elliot Cadeau made it to the Final Four and reunited with his teammates after having a medical incident.
As the men’s basketball team was getting ready to bus to the airport to fly to Indianapolis on Wednesday, Cadeau received medical attention for a possible allergic reaction.
A news outlet captured video of Cadeau being loaded into an ambulance on a gurney.
"Before the team departed the Player Development Center, Elliot alerted the medical staff that he may have had an allergic reaction to something that he ate," a program spokesperson said in a statement. "The doctors evaluated Elliot and he is fine. Out of an abundance of caution, he is receiving medical supervision.”
Cadeau traveled separately and met the team in Indianapolis, where Michigan is set to take on Arizona on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in a Final Four battle between two No. 1 seeds.
Cadeau has started all 38 games for Michigan this season and is averaging 10.2 points and a team-high 5.8 assists in 27 minutes per game. He earned All-Big Ten honorable mention honors while helping the Wolverines win the outright regular-season title in his first year with the team.
After Michigan’s backcourt took a hit with backup point guard L.J. Cason suffering a season-ending ACL injury, Cadeau has seen his playing time increase – up to 32.1 minutes in the nine games without Cason – and has kept his production steady.
Cadeau has at least seven assists in each of Michigan's four NCAA Tournament wins. He dished out 10 in the Elite Eight win over Tennessee that lifted the team to its first Final Four since 2018.
