Michael Felger Issues Brutally Honest Take On Celtics Possibly Pursuing Giannis Antetokounmpo originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
While most of Boston supports the Celtics in pursuing a trade for Bucks star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, sports talk show host Michael Felger disagrees.
"It's a mistake," Felger said on Friday during "Felger & Mazz". "Giannis is like a time bomb injury-wise. And he's overrated as a player. Even at his best, I told him he's overrated."

Felger, a Wisconsin native and Bucks fan, knows Antetokounmpo well. He watched him closely in recent seasons and observed how injuries have impacted the Bucks. Antetokounmpo played only 36 games this season due to multiple injuries, including a knee and a calf injury.
Not all of the 46 games that Antetokounmpo missed this season were due to his own circumstances; the Bucks occasionally held him out as part of their tanking strategy when they were out of playoff contention.
Antetokounmpo also missed several playoff games in the past. In 2024, he was sidelined for the entire first round due to a calf strain, which contributed to the Bucks' elimination by the Pacers in six games. In the 2023 playoffs, a back injury forced him to miss two games against the Heat, resulting in a series loss.
The Celtics would be taking a significant risk by trading Jaylen Brown for Antetokounmpo. Antetokounmpo will turn 32 at the end of the year, and there are concerns that his body may break down. If the Celtics trade Brown and acquire Antetokounmpo, but he is unable to stay healthy, Boston might miss out on winning any more titles with Jayson Tatum.
