Before Jose Alvarado showed up at Citi Field, the Mets looked short on answers. They had dropped five straight, their lineup needed a shake-up, and their season felt stuck.

Then last Wednesday, the Knicks guard was spotted in the crowd. The Mets beat the Reds 4-2 that night, snapping the skid and starting a run of four straight wins.

They followed it by sweeping the Marlins, finishing Sunday with a 10-1 rout. With the Knicks riding an 11-game postseason streak, fans could not ignore the coincidence.

Fans on X reacted to the theory about Alvarado sharing Knicks’ luck with the Mets after he attended the match last week.

One wrote: “Knicks just got winning DNA infecting everybody,” while another added: “I hope he didn’t rub off too much on them that the Knicks starts losing. That would just s—.”

“We needed that 4-0… and we wasted it on the f—— Mets,” a third fan stated.

A fourth X user’s comment read: “So he flipped the season. Mets fans might need him in the stands every game now.”

Of course, “Alvarado’s magic” did not win those games alone. Juan Soto’s power, improved pitching and deeper lineup production all helped New York recover from a miserable stretch.

Still, timing matters in this city. The guard was at Citi Field while the Knicks are preparing for the NBA Finals, carrying the feel of a team that has forgotten how to lose.

The Mets will take any spark they can get. If four wins followed one visit, superstition will do the rest.
