One under-the-radar thing I don't think many are talking about regarding Freddy Peralta's trade is that he once played for the Milwaukee Brewers and Craig Counsell.

Not that his past means everything when it comes to a trade, and the New York Mets ultimately have to try to get the best return possible for the right-hander, but it's important to remember his history with certain guys, and it seems like he had a lot of love and respect for what Counsell did in Milwaukee.

With the Chicago Cubs in need of starting pitching, there's an obvious pairing that makes a lot of sense. According to MLB insider Jon Heyman of the New York Post, he likes Peralta going to the Cubs because of the Counsell relationship.

“For Peralta, I like the Cubs,” said Heyman on MLB Central, H/T Heavy. “Craig Counsell, big fan of him from their Milwaukee days.”

At 37-35, it seems very likely that the Cubs are going to be in the mix to add a starter or two. They've been absolutely derailed with injuries this year, and with the Mets being 32-39, it wouldn't be surprising to see them move on from Peralta.

With the right-hander also hitting free agency at the end of the season, however, there could be some problems that come up for both sides in a potential trade.
