Mets trade idea lands four prospects from White Sox for Freddy Peralta originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New York Mets are likely to be trade deadline sellers this season, as things have gone south with the club in 2026. David Peterson was already traded, and more is likely on the horizon.
One of the more obvious trade chips is Freddy Peralta, the ace the Mets acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers last offseason, who could fetch a reasonable price this summer.
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report proposed a trade idea for the Mets that would send Peralta to the Chicago White Sox, landing four prospects in a deal that Miller described as "realistic."
Mets trade idea lands 4 prospects for Freddy Peralta from White Sox
"Realistic Trade: Chicago White Sox acquire RHP Freddy Peralta from New York Mets for RHP Mason Adams, IF Javier Mogollon, LHP Shane Murphy, and 1B Anthony DePino," Miller proposed.
With Peralta's trade value a lot worse than it was over the offseason due to his 4.68 ERA, 5-7 record, and 0.1 bWAR at the All-Star break, it's not a surprise they aren't getting some massive haul like the one they gave up this offseason.
But would this four-player package from the White Sox actually be a decent return? It's a bit of a mixed bag of a return for the Mets. According to MLB Pipeline, the Mets would be getting back the White Sox's No. 10, 11, 26, and 29-ranked prospects for Peralta.
Mason Adams, No. 10, is the best prospect the Mets would be acquiring, and the 26-year-old right-hander has a 3.74 ERA this season in 10 starts, including a 4.35 ERA in five starts at Triple-A.

Javier Mogollon, No. 11, is a 20-year-old infielder who has an .840 OPS in Single-A this season, and has seven homers, 22 stolen bases, and 64 strikeouts to 26 walks this season in 50 games.
Shane Murphy, No. 26, is a 25-year-old left-handed pitcher who has a 5.32 RA this season in 86.1 innings, with a 6.00 ERA in 57 innings at Triple-A.
Lastly, Anthony DePino, No. 29, is a 23-year-old first baseman who has an .869 OPS in 83 games this season, including an .875 OPS in 51 games at Double-A. He has 16 homers this season with 48 walks and 74 strikeouts.
While this package doesn't have any top-100 prospects or anyone of significant value, it's a collection of prospects who could help now, and in the future. It's not an ideal return, but it might be a more "realistic" one that the Mets could get for the struggling Peralta.
