The nominees for this week's Courier Journal girls athlete of the week delivered on Louisville-area softball fields.

Voting is underway for The Courier Journal's girls athlete of the week. The poll closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the winner will be announced Friday.

Here are the nominees:

Lori Edgar, Oldham County softball​

You must be registered for see images attach

Junior was 3 for 4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored in a 12-6 victory over Assumption on May 4.

Mollie Johnston, Bullitt East softball​

You must be registered for see images attach

Senior was 2 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs in a 10-3 victory over Ballard on May 7.

Lakelyn Maloney, Fern Creek softball​

Eighth-grader went 4 for 5 with five RBIs and three runs scored in a 16-9 victory over Trimble County on May 8.

Candice Smith, Christian Academy softball​

Sophomore was 3 for 3 with a triple, a home run and five RBIs in a 10-0 victory over Presentation on May 6.

Allie Streble, Mercy softball​

Junior was 3 for 3 with a double, five RBIs and two runs scored in a 16-1 victory over Sacred Heart on May 6.
