Mm, not sure on this one, as I'm not a big fan of making the TV shows big movie tie ins. I love the modern Spidey franchise, but am unsure I'll watch Daredevil.

It's kind of a Marvel tradition. It was a great way to sell more books if you could tell grand stories across multiple titles and tie them all together in one limited edition series where all events coalesce. It was also extremely frustrating for kids with limited funds and a book store that couldn't guarantee getting all the comics needed to complete the story. Captain Capitalism has great power, true believers!

On the positive side, though, it did expose many of us to books we never would have checked out before and I'm sure the producers of those less popular books loved a tie-in with the X-men or Spidey when they were struggling with sales.

I fail to understand why these idiots release "release dates" for a movie they don't even have.
Never shot a foot of tape. Never secured a single location. Never fit a single costume.
But these morons want to create hype.

"Look at me! Look at me!! I got a job"
If the studio don't change their mind.

Part of it is hype yes. But release calendars are created at least 2 years in advance. I'm not sure why you think they are "morons."

Part of announcing it is to reserve the weekend. No other big tent movie will touch that date now

It’s more than part of it. It’s all of it. Certain weekends historically are the best weekends to debut a movie, especially during summer and holidays so studios stake their claim as soon as they think it’s reasonable to do so.

I am surprised that they’re putting this on the calendar just one weekend behind Nolan’s next that summer. All of their premium screens will go right to Nolan’s movie, immediately choking off a bit of extra income for Spidey.

Jon Bernthal Joins Tom Holland in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Jon Bernthal has appeared in several Marvel television series as the stone-cold vigilante known as the Punisher, even headlining his own series.

Now he’s taking his guns to the big screen.

Bernthal has joined Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the latest Spider-Man movie from Sony and Marvel. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the feature, which will shoot in England this summer and has a July 31, 2026, release date.

Much of the movie remains shrouded in mystery. Movie rumor websites have listed upwards of a dozen possible villains, from crime bosses to alien symbiotes, who could appear in the feature, as well as a couple of different versions of the Hulk.

The only thing clear at this stage is that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are reprising their roles as MJ and best friend Ned, although how substantial those roles will be remains unclear. And Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is the big new addition so far. The story takes place after the events of the previous movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which the entire world knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man and then had that knowledge erased.
