This one scares me for the MCU. Blade needs to be R rated. My gut's saying they're going to water it way down to get a PG-13 out of it. Hopefully I'm wrong and Disney will let them go for the R.

Agreed.
The first setpiece at the rave in Blade is so freaking awesome and just BRUTAL AND DISGUSTING. There’s no way that scene makes it into a PG-13 marvel movie these days.

Read reports this morning that Ali was unhappy with the script. Now it’s just been reported that the director has left the film. I think this gets delayed.

No… For now Ali is still set to star, although apparently they are doing a complete script rewrite and the director has dropped out, so who knows if Ali will eventually jet.

Still kind of a head-scratcher if the goal is to make many movies with the character or incorporate him into the bigger MCU picture. Much older actor than Wesley was when he first starred as Blade.

I have a feeling this will be a disaster. I like Tyrese but going from Ali to him? MAJOR downgrade in acting ability. If Ali thought the script was subpar? I believe it.

Update: That Tyrese junk was just a Twitter troll apparently.
Wasn't too difficult to believe (even though it seemed very bizarre) considering how slowly things have moved for this project since it was first announced at the 2019 Comic Con.
Mahershala Ali is still in but the director is out.
Thanks for that. I have not kept up on this one bit. Good to know he is still in.
