I think what one really needs to witness is a Cardinal chasing and kicking a Blue Jay or Mockingbird's arse for any sign to bear fruit

A few years ago, while I was on my way to a Cardinals-Chiefs game, I drove past a dead cardinal smashed along the side of the road. Turns out to have been an accurate omen.
