After a bit of uncertainty, Moussa Cisse is sticking around in Dallas for a while longer.
On Saturday morning, Cisse agreed to a two-year contract offer sheet with the NBA champion New York Knicks, meaning the Mavericks had 48 hours to match the Knicks' offer and keep the young center. Masai Ujiri and Dallas' front office didn't need the full 48 hours and matched New York's offer sheet on Saturday night, a person familiar with the situation confirmed to The Dallas Morning News. The team officially announced the move on Wednesday evening.
The Knicks' offer sheet to the restricted free agent was a two-year, $4.7 million deal with half the 2026-27 salary being guaranteed and the 2027-28 salary being non-guaranteed. The 6-foot-11 big man will now remain with the Mavericks on that same contract.

Cisse drew interest from New York thanks to his productive rookie season. While he only suited up in 38 games for the Mavs last season due to his two-way contract status, he averaged 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 13.9 minutes per game. Cisse flashed plenty of potential in that limited role, leading to outside interest that ultimately forced Dallas to match an offer sheet for the 23-year-old.
Instead of letting him get away to the Knicks, Mavericks will keep the talented young center as a piece in their rebuild around Cooper Flagg.
